Lodging

Regardless of where you stay, these are some things to know:

  • Italian law requires all lodging guests to provide a picture of their passport upon arrival.

  • Italy has a tourist short-term lodging tax of approx. 3.50€/person/night. This tax may be charged at booking or check-in.

  • Lucca, like many other towns in Italy, restricts car access to the city center for non-residents. The restricted area is known as ZTL and you will be fined heavily if you drive in it. More information on ZTL can be found here.

We recommend to stay in Lucca centro (inside the mura/walls) to fully experience Lucca!

Overall, we found that Airbnbs tend to offer better value. That said, we also identified several hotel options in centro.
